Choosing a cause in December

In many countries, December is traditionally the month of shopping for the end-of-year holidays. The Giving Tuesday initiative raises awareness among people to think of others throughout the month of December and to share their generosity with the community.

A recent study conducted among Canadians shows that more than 80% of donors are motivated to give to a cause that “helps those less fortunate” than themselves. Respondents expressed that they want to contribute to work that shares their values. Of course, it is prudent to verify that the organization is legitimate, for example by verifying that it is legally registered in Canada. We all need hope and an organization that works to improve living conditions helps us have confidence in a better future for all.

The Sénégal Santé Mobile Foundation is committed to the cause of maternal and child health

The Sénégal Santé Mobile Foundation is dedicated to improving the conditions in which Senegalese women experience pregnancy and childbirth for the health of the mother and her unborn child. In several regions of Senegal, women do not benefit from pregnancy monitoring, medication and well-equipped maternity wards like what Canadian women find at home. The presence of qualified personnel during childbirth is also greatly lacking. In addition, due to a lack of basic care in Senegal, one child in nineteen dies at birth and a third of infant mortality (0-5 years) is due to infection during childbirth.

In 2015, the Foundation will equip three to five maternity hospitals in Senegal with its Mother-Child kits in order to enable better pregnancy monitoring, reduce the risks associated with childbirth and provide basic care to infants and young children. This project benefits from the support of our partner HPIC, an organization dedicated to increasing access to medications and improving the health of the most vulnerable communities.

Your generosity and donations have an impact!

During the month of December 2014, the Senegal Santé Mobile Foundation is asking for donations in order to reach as many maternity hospitals as possible with its Mother-Child kit project. The Foundation wishes to reach a minimum of three maternity wards and hopes that your generosity will enable it to support up to five maternity wards.Even modest donations have an impact. So for as little as CA$10, a mother will receive a month’s supply of prenatal vitamins. For a donation of CA$20, you will contribute to the treatment of his diabetes for two months or his hypertension for two weeks.

In this season of celebration,

you can choose to offer

a safe delivery to a Senegalese mother

and to give the gift of life to a Senegalese child.

The Senegal Santé Mobile Foundation appreciates your support. A tax receipt is issued for donations of at least CA$20. Give to
